Baking Time

I had a sudden burst of energy this weekend and decided to do a few things. One of which was baking a cake with Alivia. She wasn't too sure about it at first and immediately got out of the way when I started the hand-mixer. Only my child, who's not shown much fear at all up to this point, would be afraid of the mixer! She did enjoy putting sprinkles on the cake and eating it of course. We had fun and can now say we've officially spent time together baking in the kitchen.

Twice as hard...

...but twice as cute!

It's so difficult to get just one to sit still long enough to get a good picture, not to mention two smiling! I didn't think these were too bad considering Alivia was distracted by the teddy bear on Drew's shirt and Drew was anxiously awaiting me to move him far away from Alivia. :)

Riding with Daddy

Alivia loves going on bike rides with Daddy!

Trying on her new helmet. I was so surprised that she left it on, but I think it helps that Daddy wears one too.

Cheese!!

Alivia Funnies

She keeps us on our toes and cracks us up too many times to count. Here are a few funny stories that I don't want to forget. Many of you have probably heard them before, but hopefully you'll find them entertaining again.

  • Her favorite song right now is by Black Eyed Peas. She's obviously spent way too much time in the car with Daddy. She requests it at least once each time we go somewhere and says "boom boom boom" at the right time throughout the song. If you're not singing or dancing, she will call you out. She usually yells "Mommy" and when I turn around in the car to see what she wants, she moves around in her seat to get me to dance. As many of you know, dancing is not my thing. :)

  • One day last week I sat Drew down in his bouncy seat and noticed he needed his nose cleaned out. I used the 'snot sucker' quickly, then got Alivia cleaned up from breakfast and down from her high chair. I told her I was going to change my clothes then be back in just a minute. As soon as I got down to the bedroom I heard her say "nose" and realized exactly what was going on. I'd left the 'snot sucker' within reach and she was using it on Drew! The poor guy can't defend himself for anything, but there's plenty of time for paybacks.

  • She has a great sense of direction. She knows exactly where we are at all times. If we turn left out of the driveway she knows we'll go by the boat and see the dog outside. If we turn right she looks to see if the firestation has its doors open. By the way, if they're closed she immediately says "Awww man!" If we turn right at the stop sign, she'll look for the horse. I'm certain she knows the area better than our families.

  • We went to the park in Greenfield and she had a blast. She was very intersted in this seat. The video speaks for itself. :) Just a side note...Daddy tried it too! Is this considered child abuse?? Don't worry, we only did it once.

  • So you know how when you go out to eat, the waitress will come over and offer to get your drinks first? Well, the last few times we've gone, the waitress says something like "Can I start you off with a drink?" and Alivia has immediately responded "Umm, yes." Then at Cracker Barrell the other night she told her she wanted an iced tea! She doesn't even drink that!

  • She loves to talk and even talks to herself. The other day I caught her having a conversation with her reflection in the stove!

  • When she does something worth celebrating, she wants high fives from everyone. She always goes to Drew and says "five Drew" then picks up his arm so his hand hits her's. It's too cute.

Smiles and Stats

Drew survived his 1 month well-baby visit this morning. He was in such a pleasant mood even after getting his shot. We're starting to see smiles more often now too. He was so happy when I was taking his picture today, I couldn't help but post all of these.

1 Month Stats:
11 lb. 6 oz. - 73%
23 in. long - 80%
head 39 cm. - 53%

Pretty Girl

We went to Riley last Friday so I could get my flu shot and ended up having lunch with my co-workers. Brooke asked Alivia if she could do her hair and she not only said yes, she sat still long enough for her to do it! It was so cute. I couldn't help but take pictures and share. :)

Mommy's New Man

We had lunch with my girlfriends from work at The Old Spaghetti Factory downtown yesterday. Yum! It was delicious! Alivia was at Miss Angela's, so it was just Drew and me. I had to put him in one of his nicest outfits for the occasion. Doesn't he look handsome? :) And it even looks like he's waving too. It was so nice to see everyone. I miss the girls, but not so much the work. Only 7 weeks left of my maternity leave. :(

PS: There was another outfit out before this one. I've learned not to sit them on the changing table too early. It received a shower during a diaper change before we left. :)

1 Month

It's so hard to believe that Drew is already a month old. The time has gone by so fast. We're all doing very well and enjoying every minute. Here are a few things to note about our first month.

  • Drew enjoys the swing and activity mat. I'm so glad I decided to borrow the swing. It's hard to hold him all the time with Alivia demanding my attention too.

  • Drew's getting mommy up once or twice a night to eat. It's not too bad though. :)

  • Drew is very entertained by Alivia. She's constantly in his face when he's awake. She loves kissing his head and nose. Luckily, we haven't had any major accidents thus far. We've been close...the other day I walked into the family room after leaving Drew on the floor. Alivia was stepping over him!

  • Drew is wearing 3 month clothes. We don't go to the doctor until next week, so I'll post his stats then. It's obvious he's growing because we're already moving clothes out of his dresser.

  • Drew loves to be bounced! Daddy's exercise ball is the cure we never knew about when Alivia was a baby. It's wonderful!

  • Drew has been sleeping in his crib since his first night at home.

  • Drew makes so much noise! He talks when he's awake and makes the sweetest sounds when he sleeps. :)

Busy Weekend

We traveled home last weekend for Carla and Dan's wedding. Carla has been best friends with Brad since elementary school. We were able to see ALL of the family and some special friends too. Here are a few pictures to recap the weekend.

I didn't have a great picture of Carla and Dan, but here she is with Craig. She looked beautiful!

Congrats Carla and Dan!

Alivia on the dance floor at the reception.

Here was our attempt at a family picture before the wedding. You can see how happy Alivia was to be in the picture. :) She had a 30 minute nap on the way to Logansport, so her mood was a little off. She would have slept longer, but Drew woke up screaming which woke her up too. Luckily, they both slept the entire 90 minutes on the way home Sunday afternoon. It was the most peaceful 90 minutes Brad and I have had for weeks.

We were finally able to visit with Andy and Lisa and meet baby Colton. He's such a sweet baby and never made a noise the whole time we were there! Here are Brad and Andy with their kids. Doesn't that sound weird?! We must be getting old!

Speaking of getting old...yesterday was my 30th birthday. Ugh! This was an attempt to get my picture with the kids. Obviously, Alivia is much more interested in her new camera that was sent from our dear friends. Thanks, Zeider's! You can see that she loves it.

Just a few pictures from today.
