Alivia asked to come out of her basketball game last night because her head hurt. She was in tears but we thought it was from being tired more than anything else. The game didn't start until after 8pm so it was way past her bedtime (and she needs lots of sleep!). After telling her to tough it out, reminding her the team needs her to play, and telling the coach to not baby her or let her sit too long, she came back out and played the last half of the 3rd quarter and entire 4th quarter. She scored, blocked shots and played great defense to help her team win 28-8 and advance to the championship game. We were so proud of her!
Then I woke up to her crying this morning. She was complaining of a headache and sore throat. It's not easy to decide what to do at 8 years old, but she felt she really needed to go to the doctor. On our way she proceeded to throw up in the car and was covered before I could get to CVS and help her. It. Was. Awful. I have wipes, napkins, towels and plastic bags in the Mazda and today we're in the Honda with nothing. :( I'll change that this afternoon!
Our appointment was needed as she tested positive for strep. She's missing her 1st day of school since starting Kindergarten, but I think we can say it's been justified.
